🧭 Andrae & Co. Stuttgart Founded by Carl Andrae, Andrae & Co. was a specialist German water-meter manufacturer active during the first half of the twentieth century. The company produced a comprehensive range of utility meters including multi-jet, compound and Woltmann water meters for domestic, commercial and municipal applications. Surviving catalogues illustrate a mature and technically advanced product range, placing Andrae among the notable German firms that contributed to the expansion of metered water supply systems throughout Central Europe. Contemporary records describe it explicitly as a "Wassermesserfabrik" (water-meter factory), and surviving catalogues show a full range of water meters including multi-jet, compound and Woltmann types. Andrae belongs to the generation of German manufacturers that supported the rapid expansion of universal municipal metering during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Their product range shows a sophisticated understanding of both domestic and bulk water measurement.
