🧭 Elorriaga Tavira was a Spanish manufacturer of water meters active during the twentieth century located in San Sebastián (Donostia), Gipuzkoa, in the Basque Country of northern Spain. Contemporary company literature identifies the firm as "Elorriaga y Compañía" and later as "Industrias Españolas S.A. Elorriaga Tavira".

Evidence from surviving products confirms that the firm manufactured water meters under the Tavira brand and operated from San Sebastián, one of Spain's principal industrial and engineering centres in the Basque Country.

📜 Historical Context

During the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Spain underwent major expansion of municipal water-supply infrastructure. Cities required accurate methods of measuring water consumption for billing, distribution management, and industrial supply.

🏭 Elorriaga Tavira manufactured:

- Domestic water meters

- Commercial water meters

- Velocity-type water meters

- Volumetric water meters

- Woltmann turbine meters for larger flows

This product range indicates that the company served both household and municipal markets and sought to provide complete metering solutions rather than a single specialist product line.

Surviving artefacts include brass and bronze meters, register lids, and technical catalogues bearing the inscription "Industrias Españolas S.A. Elorriaga Tavira, San Sebastián." The company forms part of the history of Spain's indigenous water-meter industry and the broader development of urban water-supply infrastructure. It is estimated the company existed from 1920's till early 1970's.
