Kranti Water Meter Manufacturing Co. was a mid‑20th‑century (c. 1935–1970) Indian producer of domestic and municipal water meters, active during the country’s transition from imported European meters to locally engineered designs. Its products—typically bronze meters and cast‑iron inferential meters—served households, textile mills, and municipal water boards across Western and Central India.

The company’s name, Kranti (meaning revolution), reflects the industrial nationalism of the era, when Indian engineering firms positioned themselves as self‑reliant alternatives to British and German imports. Kranti meters were known for robust gunmetal bodies, enamel dials, and simple, serviceable mechanisms suited to Indian water conditions.

By the 1970s, as larger firms adopted standardized ISI‑certified designs and modern tooling, smaller workshops like Kranti disappeared. Surviving meters are rare and represent an important chapter in India’s early indigenous water‑meter manufacturing history.
