Nitto Seiko

Nitto Seiko is a major Japanese manufacturer of precision machinery founded in 1938, and a significant producer of flowmeters since 1949.

They evolved from screw‑manufacturing into a diversified industrial group producing flowmeters, assembly machines, screw‑tightening systems, industrial robots, and precision components.

Origins (1938–1945) — Precision Screws & War‑Era Manufacturing

Founded: 1938 in Kyoto, Japan

Post‑War Expansion (1946–1960) — Entry Into Flowmeters

Japan’s reconstruction created huge demand for Water infrastructure, Industrial process control and Marine equipment.

1949 — Nitto Seiko begins manufacturing flowmeters

This is the key date for your museum timeline.

Early products included:

- Positive displacement (rotary piston) flowmeters

- Mechanical batch counters

-Marine‑grade flowmeters for fuel and water systems

These were built with the same precision‑machining standards as their screw‑making equipment.

Flow Measurement Technology Growth so added:

- Electronic flowmeters

- Chemical‑resistant meters

- Small‑flow precision meters for dosing and additives

By the 1980s, Nitto Seiko was a major Japanese flowmeter manufacturer, competing with Aichi Tokei, Tokyo Keiso, and Oval.

Modernization & Globalization (1990–2010)

Nitto Seiko expanded internationally and modernized its product lines.

Key developments

Introduction of ultrasonic clamp‑on flowmeters

Development of Coriolis mass flowmeters

Integration of electronic counting units

Present Day (2010–2026) — High‑Tech Industrial Group

Nitto Seiko today is a global precision‑engineering company with four major business pillars:

Flow Measurement Division Products include:

- Positive displacement flowmeters

- Ultrasonic clamp‑on meters

- Coriolis mass flowmeters

- Electronic small‑flow meters

- Batch counters & preset controllers

- Marine flowmeters
