Apator Powogaz

Apator Powogaz traces its roots to 1925, when the Water Meters Workshop (Warsztat Wodomierzy) was established in Poznań, Poland. This small municipal workshop was created to meet the growing need for accurate water measurement in a rapidly modernizing city. The company produced early mechanical water meters for local waterworks, became one of the first organised water‑meter production sites in Poland until WW2 broke out in 1939. After the disruptions of World War II, the workshop was rebuilt and expanded. During this period, Powogaz evolved from a municipal workshop into a full industrial manufacturer. Key developments included: - Introduction of standardised mechanical water meters - Expansion of production capacity - Supply of meters across Poland and Eastern Europe - Development of new designs suited to post‑war infrastructure - By the 1970s, Powogaz had become a recognised name in the region’s water‑meter industry. As Poland’s economy opened in the 1980's and technology advanced, Powogaz modernised its production and engineering capabilities. This era saw: - Improved precision engineering - Introduction of new materials and manufacturing methods - Expansion into industrial and commercial metering - Growing export activity - Powogaz transitioned from a regional supplier into a company with international reach. In the 2000's the company merged with the Apator Group and today manufacturers Residential and industrial water meters, Ultrasonic and smart‑meter solutions, High‑precision mechanical meters, with global distribution across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. The HWM-Museum does not currently have any of these meters in its collection.
