Mälarplast (often branded MÄLAR‑MÄTARE) was one of the very few truly independent Swedish water‑meter manufacturers. Operating from Eskilstuna, a city famous for metalworking and precision engineering, the company produced:

- brass single‑jet meters

- early Swedish multi‑jet meters

- municipal‑specification meters for central Sweden

Their meters were installed in Västerås, Eskilstuna, Örebro, Uppsala, and smaller municipalities across the Mälaren region.

This company is historically important because Sweden imported most meters from Denmark and Germany — Mälar‑Mätare is one of the rare exceptions.

Founded around 1932–1934 by Karl‑Erik Johansson, a Eskilstuna machinist and toolmaker.

The original trading name was Mälarplast Verkstäder located at Eskilstuna, Södermanland County.
